Raye paused her set at the All Points East Festival in Victoria Park, London, on Saturday after a fan collapsed in the crowd. The 27-year-old singer was interacting with attendees when she noticed the situation and called for assistance.
Raye addressed the audience, saying, “We’ve got some pointing and waving over there, is everything alright? Security, please can we get some people over there. Security is coming. Can we clear a path, please? Can we get a thumbs up when help has been received?” After receiving confirmation that the individual was receiving aid, she added, “Someone has passed out, I think, are they ok? I hope this person is alright. Thumbs up, okay they are being sorted out.” The crowd erupted in cheers when they learned that everything was fine.
The festival, taking place over the bank holiday weekend, also features performances from artists such as Chase & Status, Barry Can’t Swim, and The Maccabees, with supporting acts including Tyla, Bombay Bicycle Club, and Confidence Man.
In a disappointing turn, fans were saddened by the news that American artist Doechii had withdrawn from her scheduled performance at All Points East and other upcoming shows. The festival made the announcement via social media on Tuesday, stating, “We’re very sorry to announce that Doechii will no longer be performing at her upcoming shows. She is an incredible artist, and like all of her fans, we were hugely excited to see her on stage.” In addition to All Points East, the singer has also cancelled her performances at Forwards Bristol festival and Rock en Seine in Paris.
Currently, Doechii has not issued any personal statements regarding her withdrawal, nor has she provided a reason for the cancellations. Fans took to social media expressing their disappointment and calling for a suitable replacement for her set. Commenters lamented, “I was so excited to see her on my birthday,” and “I came all the way from another continent and I was so excited to see her.” Others criticized the festival’s management, with one user stating, “APE behaving messy this year, do better for your fans.”
