Lindsay Lohan has recently commented on the buzz surrounding what fans believe to be a hidden “Easter egg” in her latest film, “Freakier Friday.” The long-awaited sequel, which has made its debut in cinemas, follows in the footsteps of the beloved 2003 original featuring both Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis.
In the first film, the mother-daughter duo undergoes a body swap, providing insight into each other’s lives. The 2025 sequel introduces a fresh twist, incorporating a four-person body swap just as Lohan’s character, Anna, is about to marry.
A TikTok user identified as @hellfire.j drew attention to what she perceived as a salient detail in the film, relating to the date of Anna’s wedding. She stated, “It was October 3rd and I’m just like, ‘There’s no way they didn’t mean to do that, right?’ That has got to be because of Mean Girls. They did that on purpose. Out of all the dates they could have chosen – October 3rd?”
The significance of October 3rd is well-known among fans of the 2004 film “Mean Girls,” where it is celebrated as “Mean Girls Day.” This date is memorable due to a scene in which Aaron Samuels, portrayed by Jonathan Bennett, asks Lohan’s character what day it is, to which she replies, “It’s October 3rd.”
In an interview with Collider’s Perri Nemiroff, Lohan shared her perspective on the matter, revealing that it was an unintentional coincidence. She recalled, “I genuinely don’t think anyone realised it. Until it was printed on the [wedding invitation] cards… Does anyone realise this is October 3rd? That’s Mean Girls Day?” She noted that no one had mentioned it during production, leading her to suggest they keep it as a hidden detail. The film’s director, Nisha Ganatra, responded, “We’re not doing Easter eggs,” to which Lohan remarked, “Well, you did.”
Reactions to Lohan’s comments have been enthusiastic. One viewer remarked, “I was asking myself this too! Hahaha a serendipitous Easter egg.” Others noted the film included multiple references to past works, highlighting the nostalgia for fans of Lohan’s earlier roles. Comments reflected a shared enjoyment of these hidden treats: “There was a lot of Easter eggs! And a lot of cool Freaky Friday references. It was a great movie.”
