Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has been remanded in custody in New York City as he prepares for sentencing following convictions related to prostitution. A jury found the music entrepreneur guilty last month on two counts of transportation for the purpose of engaging in prostitution. Although he faced more severe allegations regarding racketeering and sex trafficking, the jury acquitted him of those charges.

According to Assistant US Attorney Maurene Comey, Diddy could face a maximum sentence of 20 years for the counts for which he has been convicted. The verdict prompted a dramatic reaction from Diddy, who collapsed to his knees, visibly distressed, while the courtroom erupted in applause.

Sentencing has been scheduled by Judge Arun Subramanian for October 3. In a recent attempt to secure his release, Diddy’s legal team submitted a motion for a $50 million bail; however, the request was denied by the judge, who stated that Diddy “failed to satisfy his burden to demonstrate an entitlement to release.”

Following the trial, defense attorney Anna Estevao expressed optimism about Diddy’s situation, claiming that he can “sleep well” despite his incarceration. Estevao highlighted the positive outcome of the acquittals on the more serious charges, stating, “This is a huge win. He was acquitted of sex trafficking, acquitted of RICO conspiracy; he will be able to sleep well at night knowing that.”
