Robbie Williams delighted fans with a nostalgic nod to his days with Take That at a recent Q&A session, where he promoted his upcoming album, “Britpop,” on Tuesday. The 51-year-old singer turned heads in a pair of denim overalls reminiscent of his early performances with the iconic boy band in the 1990s.
During the event at London’s Groucho Club, Robbie discussed his evolving appearance and the challenges of maintaining his hair, which he admitted is “thinning every day.” In a candid exchange with comedian Joe Lycett, he expressed his ongoing struggle to keep his locks looking full for his supporters.
He remarked, “Because I’ve got like ADHD and I don’t look, my self-care is appalling. I have to remember to apply moisturizer, which I do have… then I forget to do it again for another two months.” Furthermore, he shared that he relies on makeup to enhance his appearance, acknowledging the role of his makeup artist in giving him a boost, stating, “The skin at the moment is due to my makeup artist, who I think has done a really good job.”
Robbie reminisced about his famed denim overalls, recalling their significance during his performance at the Smash Hits Poll Winners Party in 1992. In a past interview with British Vogue, he said, “Overalls were part of my look back in the day… it could cover up my belly, so it gave the illusion that I was a buff ting!”
As he prepares to release his album on October 10, Robbie has also rekindled his musical partnership with former bandmate Gary Barlow. The duo collaborated on a track, their first joint effort since Williams briefly rejoined Take That for a tour and album in 2010 and 2011. He described their latest song as “considerate,” sharing its unique perspective from a stalker’s viewpoint, stating, “It’s somebody who’s stalking and is completely obsessed and in love with him.”
In his personal life, Robbie, alongside his wife Ayda Field, balances a busy household with four children: Teddy, 12, Charlie, 10, Coco, 6, and Beau, 4. He noted that their children’s education significantly influences where they choose to live, with the couple recently investing £30 million in a sprawling waterfront property in Miami.
Robbie acknowledged the complexities of raising four children, revealing, “The four kids are constantly a Rubik’s Cube puzzle that we’re trying to sort out.” This balancing act between schooling arrangements and family time is a priority for the singer, who has expressed a desire to ensure a UK-based upbringing for his kids. He reflected on his earlier aspirations to return to Britain, emphasizing the importance of education and community.
“I want Teddy and the new baby, whatever it may be, to be educated in England,” he previously said, highlighting the value of a British upbringing.
