The UK Open Darts tournament is set to take place from February 28 to March 2, 2025, at the Butlin’s Minehead Resort in England, and viewers can catch all the action live on SPORT1. Darts enthusiasts can mark their calendars for this major event, which promises to feature many top stars of the sport.
The UK Open is distinguished by its unique format, where the competition is held without a seed list, allowing early clashes between leading players. A total of 128 participants, who hold a tour card, will be involved. In addition to these, eight tickets will be allocated from both the Development Tour and the Challenge Tour, while the remaining 16 spots will be filled through amateur qualifiers.
The initial round will see the lowest-ranked 64 players compete against one another. Following this, the winners will advance to face players ranked 65 to 96. The next phase includes entrants ranked 33 to 64, whereas the top players will join the competition in the fourth round. Matches will be held simultaneously across eight stages, with the format designed to reflect the unpredictability of football’s FA Cup due to the absence of seeding.
Dimitri Van den Bergh will return as the defending champion after defeating Luke Humphries in the previous final. The victor of this year’s UK Open will earn a hefty prize of £100,000 (approximately €120,000).
