Neill & Brown Global Logistics, located in East Yorkshire, has introduced a European rail freight service in collaboration with Italian partner Sogedim. This joint venture involves a significant investment in Huckepack trailers, which aim to enhance transport connectivity to and from Italy, further building on Neill & Brown’s existing European road and sea logistics offerings.
Recently, the company received a delivery of six specially designed reinforced trailers that facilitate both rail and road transport. These trailers will be used to move goods from Neill & Brown’s headquarters in Hessle, first by road and then via ferry from Hull, before being transferred onto a freight train at Zeebrugge.
Having offered daily deliveries to Italy for several years, Neill & Brown aims to provide its customers with a new, sustainable transportation alternative through this enhancement. Carl Andrew, the firm’s logistics director, commented on the strong partnership with Sogedim, expressing confidence in the venture’s potential. “It is a major investment in an efficient and reliable mode of transport to and from one of our most popular destinations,” he noted, embracing the addition of the new trailers to their fleet.
Andrew also highlighted the advantages of existing rail infrastructure on the UK-Italy route, which will allow for more options for customers who are increasingly seeking environmentally friendly logistics solutions.
Neill & Brown’s European operations are supported by significant warehousing facilities across two key sites in Hull and Humber, as well as a dedicated team for customs documentation and clearance. Established over a century ago, the company also offers global sea and air freight services, as well as handling abnormal loads and UK pallet deliveries.
